When you are in school, many students take agricultural classes and really enjoy the time that they spend both inside and outside of the classroom. Those same students graduate high school thinking that that is the last time they will be involved with agriculture. In most cases, that is not the truth. When most of us think of jobs in agriculture we think about production farming, ranching or some of the related animal sciences. But, of the over 20 million people who work in agricultural jobs, only 10% engage in traditional farming, as we know it. The remainder of those employed in agriculture work in any of 200+ related careers. Some of these ag related jobs are in the areas of Agribusiness Management and Sales, Construction, Communications, Engineering, Agriscience Research and Technologies, Resource Development and Management, Parks, Recreation and Tourism, Food Production and Packaging, Horticulture, Forestry, Food Science, and Fisheries and Wildlife. |
